4U Worship and Praise Music Ministry

4U Worship Team is fairly unique in the worship music realm. It is a Catholic-based music ministry bringing popular and original contemporary Christian music to two parish worship communities during Mass twice a month, Sacred Heart Hopedale and Saint Mary’s Milford, the latter of which is the largest congregation in the Worcester, Massachusetts, Catholic Diocese. Also unique about 4U is that it works with all members of the Christian family who want 4U’s worship support and wish to seek the Lord and share the presence of the Holy Spirit with other Christians – uniting the Body across man-made delineations. Strengthening the faith of developing or challenged believers and welcoming nonbelievers to Jesus’s fold are also part of 4U’s mission.
With a dozen members aged teen through 60s and two-thirds of which are on vocal melody and harmonies, 4U Worship Team’s sound is full and compelling. Instrumentation includes eight voices, drum set, comprehensive accessory percussion, electric bass, acoustic-electric guitars, electric guitar, and ukuleles that are instrumental to the band’s melodic sound (no pun intended). Music selection runs the range from upbeat “jumping” music (as our lead uke player is inclined to do) to down-tempo sanctuary music encouraging people into full immersion in the Holy Spirit. Music selections are scripturally based and tied to the readings of each Sunday’s service.
What most distinguishes 4U from other contemporary and traditional Christian music is its sound – rich two- to four-part harmonies, of folk and pop but sounding like neither, drawing from a wide range of musical styles, rich and full-bodied, steeped in holiness, and fully welcoming of the presence of the Lord. If ‘profound’ has a sound, this is it, delivered in the service of Jesus Christ and the entire human family.

4U seeks to serve every Christian regardless of faith background in sharing the wonder of the Holy Spirit. We believe one of the things that most pains Christ, in a world critical of Christians, is Christian-on-Christian reproach. (We believe that, while each of us must strive to know and live God's word and will, determination of each person's place with God is best left to God, and that determination of salvation is best left to Jesus Christ.) One of the best ways to dispell misunderstanding among Christians of different kinds is to bring them together to share in the Spirit, and see how what we share far outweighs what we don't. Toward this, we welcome all Christians to come together in music and song, uniting the Body.
4U welcomes every person of any faith background, no faith background, or an aversion to faith to come see how we feel and what we think about the God we have come to know, the one that we are certain loves us infinitely, and that, for us, gives real life to living.
